I have spent two years doing the set-up and lighting for the University of York’s Concert Band. This society has 2-3 concerts a year, and I have been part of the 2 man team that has ensured that every performance looked and sounded the best it could. These setups required more specific microphones and placements as they needed to balance out the loud and quiet instruments from brass and percussion to softer woodwind instruments like flutes and clarinets. For the lighting, I have grown my skills and have the responsibility of creating a fun atmosphere for the audience and signalling the start and end of each concert. During the performances, I work closely with the conductors to bring their visions to life and ensure that performers can see the sheet music.
