After assisting with the concert band, my tech partner and I were asked to assist with the sound and lighting for the university’s brass band, too. It has only been a year with the Brass Band, but they are much more creative with the lighting requirements. This has allowed me to move away from the more typical concert lights and try some more colour and moving elements. For the sound on these concerts, there are obviously a lot more loud instruments, and this can create difficulty as we have had to adjust our mix balance to hear each instrument.
